Better for entrepreneurs
Shanghai will create a better environment for entrepreneurs and high-tech start-ups as part of the city’s long-term strategy to develop an economy fueled by technological innovation and establish itself as a world-class innovation center, Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng said yesterday.
Measures will include a government-backed incubation fund, attracting overseas talents, making entrepreneurship applications easier and adjusting government regulations.
A complete blueprint which encourages innovation will be published in the second quarter, Han said at a meeting during the annual session of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Han also emphasized creating a favorable financial environment for entrepreneurship.
Last year, the city set aside 83.1 billion yuan (US$13.6 billion) for research and development in a bid to push forward technological innovation and increase the added value of its economy.
It covered civil aviation engines and gas turbines, brain science and artificial intelligence, together with projects to be launched on new energy vehicles, robotics and smart manufacturing.
