Bigger contribution
CHINA'S market contributed a bigger portion to Apple's Inc's global revenue in its latest quarter due to booming sales of its iPads and robust demand for iPhone 4 whose price fell, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook said yesterday.
In the quarter ended on March 30, the revenue of Apple China including the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, hit US$8.8 billion, up 11 percent from a year ago. This accounted for 18 percent of its global revenue, up from 12 percent a year ago, Apple said.
"We had our best quarter ever in China," Cook said yesterday, "(Sales of) iPads grew 138 percent year on year (in China).
