China plans to ease control on mobile game sector
CHINA plans to kick off new policies for mobile game management to simplify process of market entry application and approval to further boost development of mobile game, the fastest growing sector of Chinese game market, said top industry regulator today.
China’s game market revenue jumped 22 percent year-on-year in the first half to hit 60.5 billion yuan (US$9.75 billion). The mobile game market revenue topped 20.9 billion yuan in the first six months, jumping 67 percent year-on-year, said Sun Shoushan, vice head of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
“Mobile games without covering sensitive contents on politics, economy and religion problems will be approved immediately,” Sun told the summit forum of ChinaJoy, the country’s biggest game fair open tomorrow in Shanghai.
The sports and chess games, for example, will become much easier to get approval, Sun added.
The administration will choose two or three province-level regions, probably including Shanghai, to offer game management rights locally, which greatly improve management process and shorten application time, the administration said.
The game industry has fueled development of related industries on chip, computer, mobile phone and telecommunications and latest technologies such as cloud computing and virtual display.
Giants like Tencent, Intel and Sony will showcase products and services during the ChinaJoy event.
