Crash of servers in China takes out ‘.com’ sites
MILLIONS of netizens in China found it difficult to visit websites ending with ".com" this afternoon, which made many English websites including shanghaidaily.com inaccessible.
Users were not able to surf online because top domain severs crashed in the afternoon. Users had to wait or use virtual servers to visit the websites because those domain servers are in the overseas regions, experts said.
Only netizens in China are affected by the crash.
The two-thirds of domestic DNS or domain name system servers were out of order in the afternoon, said Qihoo 360, a Beijing-based online security firm.
Service was gradually being restored late in the afternoon.
