Didi Kuaidi offers users green cars
MORE than 10,000 China-made new-energy cars are available for taxi-hailing app users to call in major Chinese cities, Didi Kuaidi Co, the country’s biggest taxi-hailing service provider, said yesterday.
Cooperating with car rental firms, Didi Kuaidi has bought 10,000 new-energy cars from domestic firms BAIC and SAIC that will run on roads of the major cities, including Shanghai and Beijing.
Each new-energy car is 30,000 to 100,000 yuan (US$4,830 to US$16,100) cheaper than petrol-driven cars, said Didi Kuaidi, a merger of Alibaba-backed Kuaidi Taxi and Tencent-backed Didi, which are China’s two most popular taxi-hailing apps.
The models include BAIC’s E150, EV200 and SAIC’s Roewe 550 and can drive for up to 260 kilometers between each charge — suitable for in-town transport.
“It’s the right time for a leading taxi-hailing application firm like us to promote green transportation and new-energy cars in China,” Didi Kuaidi said in a statement yesterday.
Liu Qing, president of Didi Kuaidi, said that the company has got government support for such services.
Since the merger in February, Didi Kuaidi has been expanding its services, including launching a limousine service and car pooling.
