Digital tech to improve energy, life sciences
DIGITALIZATION of the upstream oil and gas industry and life sciences will enhance efficiency of the two sectors by 2025, said a report released yesterday by DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society for the maritime industry.
“Even with the global economy slowing, digitalized technology is preparing us into a new ‘renaissance’ of industrial progress,” said Per Wiggo Richardsen, vice president at DNV.
The energy sector is set to adopt digitalization to improve cost management and automation, especially in fully automated drilling operations, DNV said in its Technology Outlook 2015 report.
Digitalization can help diagnose by remote control for better health care. DNV expects artificial intelligence to help patients live like healthy people.
Diabetic sufferers may not need to monitor the sugar level in the blood hourly and inject themselves with insulin several times a day.
With the use of medical applications and diabetic patients carrying an automated insulin pump, insulin can be injected automatically in the event of any abnormality occurring.
