Draw-ing Something in Chinese

ZYNGA, which paid US$180 million for popular mobile social game Draw Something, yesterday launched a Chinese version of the game and linked it to Sina Weibo, a social network with over 300 million users.

"The announcement marks Zynga's first mobile game localization in Chinese as well as its first partnership with Sina," Zynga said in a statement yesterday.

Draw Something received a warm market response with 50 million downloads within fifty days globally after its debut earlier this year. But the lack of a Chinese user interface and its link to Facebook, which is not available on the Chinese mainland, caused its popularity to wane among Chinese users.

From yesterday Draw Something is offered as a localized version in Simplified Chinese, including a translated user interface and new English word choices that are culturally relevant to Chinese-speaking users such as Zhang Fei, a famous general in ancient China.

Players can also log in to the localized game using their Sina Weibo accounts.
