Electronics and clothing top exports by Chinese e-commerce firms
ELECTRONICS and clothing are the biggest exports by Chinese e-commerce companies with the US and UK the biggest buyers of these items, eBay said today after releasing the results of a survey.
"Exports from Chinese e-commerce companies have been larger and more expensive," said John Lin, eBay China managing director.
The 2014 China Retail Export Industry Development Trend report released yesterday found exports of clothing and electronics remained on top of all categories in terms of volume. Furniture and gardening items were the fastest growing categories followed by car accessories, the survey found.
Mature markets such as the US, UK, and Australia were the top 3 export destinations. Argentina was the fastest growing market with the value of exports more than doubling in 2013 from the previous year, the survey found.
The survey was based on 841 China-based retailers on eBay. Half of the respondents said they are positive about their business this year.
Lin declined to give an exact figure on exports from China last year, only saying the figure increased “tens of percent.”
