SHENZHEN-BASED Tencent and the operational bureau for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai will jointly launch an event Website by the end of this year, which allows users to enjoy the Expo through the Internet, both partners said yesterday.
More than 210 exhibitors, or 86 percent of the total, from various countries and regions of the world taking part in the World Expo 2010 as well as enterprises and organizations have agreed to put their displays and shows online, said Zhu Yonglei, vice director of the Bureau of the Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
Zhu said the Website is "an online World Expo."
Tencent, the exclusive Internet sponsor of the Shanghai World Expo, expects more than 100 million people to visit the Website and the firm's Expo channels every day when the event opens in May, according to Liu Zhiping, Tencent's president.
Tencent aims to offer a full-range of IT services.
