Firms aim for digital printing success
MAJOR technological companies such as Canon, Hewlett-Packard and Epson are expanding in China’s digital printing market, participants told an industry fair yesterday.
Canon, the world’s biggest camera maker, aims to build digital printing as a strategic source of income within several years. It will double the contribution of digital printing to its revenue from 10 percent to 20 percent, said Hideki Ozawa, Canon China’s chairman.
“We have leveraged our advantage (for picture and photo) in the relatively new sector of digital printing,” said Ozawa, who projected revenue from the Chinese digital printing market to 10 percent annually within several years.
Digital printing is used in company brochures and bar codes.
Other companies like Epson also displayed large-size printed photos for business promotion and personal albums at the four-day All in Print China exhibition which opened yesterday.
Beijing-based Founder also launched bar code printing services at the fair. Bar codes are used for product certification and also help in the battle against counterfeit products.
