Green tech set to dazzle at IT fair
VISITORS attending Shanghai's biggest annual information technology fair may be impressed with energy-saving electronic products and Internet of Things technology that aim to enhance the quality of life.
Some of the highlights of the Shanghai International IT Expo, which opened yesterday, include mahjong tables that can be controlled by iPad, 3D TVs connected via smartphones and chips for LED (light emitting diode) lighting.
South Korea-based LG is showing off its new 3D TVs with wireless connection functions while Shanghai-based Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc, a semiconductor equipment maker, said yesterday it would make equipment for solid state lighting, a type of technology used for LED lighting, a new green energy application.
"We continue developing technologies to connect smartphones and devices like washing machines and refrigerators," said Roland Gerke, president and CEO of BSH Home Appliances (China) Co, a joint venture between Bosch and Siemens.
Over 3,300 exhibitors are taking part in the expo at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Pudong. About 150,000 visitors may attend the fair which closes tomorrow.
