Hearing likely rise in revenue sounds good
SENNHEISER expects to boost Chinese revenue by 20-30 percent annually until 2016 by expanding channels and introducing new cutting-edge earphones.
Through the expanded channels and by launching 35 to 40 earphone models, Germany-based Sennheiser predicted its Chinese revenue will be between 360 million and 400 million yuan in 2012. The annual revenue growth will keep growing by 20 to 30 percent until 2016, said Marc Vincent, president of Sennheiser China, yesterday.
Its Asia revenue will hit about 90 million euros (US$113 million) this year, with the China market contributing the biggest portion.
Meanwhile, Sennheiser China has opened a Chinese-language online shop on its official website to provide pricing information. The company also plans to open more physical stores in China, especially in first-tier cities like Shanghai and Beijing.
The company is also aware of counterfeit Sennheiser products being sold globally via e-commerce websites. These products cause Sennheiser to lose 10 million euros on average, Volker Bartels, president of corporate service at Sennheiser, said.
"We can't ignore the counterfeit goods. They are not only showing up in China but everywhere globally," Bartels said during an exclusive phone interview.
