Helping out with subsidies
SMALL businesses in Shanghai can apply to the city’s research and development public service system for e-coupons worth up to 100,000 yuan (US$16,100) a year in subsidies from April 20, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission said yesterday.
The new subsidy program was introduced to encourage invention and startups as Shanghai seeks to turn itself into a global scientific innovation center.
Only small companies registered in Shanghai and startups in local scientific and technological entrepreneur incubators, which have not set up their own businesses yet but have done necessary research for their ideas, are eligible for the new subsidies.
Applications should be submitted to the public service system via its website, www.sgst.cn, and approvals or rejections would be notified on it after five working days.
