Huawei and Intel tie up in public cloud computing

HUAWEI Technologies is cooperating strategically with chip giant Intel Corp on public cloud computing, the country’s biggest telecommunications equipment maker said yesterday.
Cloud computing, which allows users to access and edit data and files on various devices through cloud servers, is expected to create 40,000 jobs in China by this year. It’s widely used in government, banking, telecom and Internet websites which require a huge volume of data, analysts said.
The firms will collaborate on new server, data center, software and cyber security to offer telecom carriers cloud computing services globally, according to Shenzhen-based Huawei, which is expanding into overseas markets.
Public cloud computing service revenue in China was said to be US$717 million in 2014, up 46.7 percent annually. The annual growth rate is forecast at an average of 33 percent until 2018, said US-based International Data Corp.
Microsoft, Amazon and Alibaba have also invested in cloud computing in China.
Also yesterday, Huawei signed a cooperation deal with Baidu.com Inc in mobile Internet and indoor location services.
