Intel spreading chips everywhere
INTEL has announced new Atom System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for IP (Internet protocol) phones, printers and information systems for cars.
The chip maker also said during the Intel Developer Forum which ended in Beijing yesterday that it was in cooperation with telecom and auto firms regarding Atom in China. Atom, mostly used in netbooks, features low-costs, super mobility and energy-efficiency.
Intel has partnered with China Mobile to adopt Intel processors for its next generation networks, which provides the carrier with low-cost and energy-efficient network management software and related services.
"In the 3G era, mobile Internet has become the key competition ability of a carrier," said Cui Chunfeng, China Mobile Research Institute manager of wireless labs. "We need to adopt new technologies like RAN (radio access network) and cloud computing based on the support of Intel."
Intel has also partnered with China Telecom to provide it with cloud computing technology. Intel is also in cooperation with Chinese telecommunications equipment makers such as ZTE and Huawei, Douglas Davis, vice president of Intel, said.
Intel has also worked with HawTai, a Chinese car maker, on infotainment systems.
