Internet Plus model to be promoted
CHINA will further encourage the Internet Plus model by setting a number of targets such as creating smart manufacturing demonstration bases and drafting standards for smart car technology.
The country’s urban and rural areas will be fully covered by a 4G network by 2018 and 80 percent of rural villages will have fiber optic cable network access, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said in a working plan for the next three years released on its website yesterday.
Municipalities and provincial capitals are set to enjoy Internet access with average speed of up to 30 megabits per second.
The ministry hopes to better integrate the Internet Plus model with the manufacturing industry to foster new techniques, new products and new business models. “We’ll speed up the building of a strong manufacturing nation as well as a strong nation of Internet technology,” the ministry said.
The ministry will also collaborate with other government bodies and provincial governments to implement Internet Plus alongside the “Made in China 2025” strategy.
By 2018, China plans to build information service platforms for small and micro firms while ensuring a more favorable environment for startups.
