Latest IT products on display at key fair

SHANGHAI International IT and Electronics Fair 2016, the city’s biggest annual information technology show, will open next week, highlighting not only the latest technologies but products that include semiconductor, consumer electronics, flat panel display and printed circuit.
The fair will largely focus on high-end smart device manufacturers and semiconductor sectors, according to the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the industry regulator and major organizer of the event.
“The information technology industry, especially the semiconductor and high-end smart manufacturers, is still the growth engine of Shanghai’s economy even in the current weak environment,” said Ma Jing, vice director of the commission.
In 2015, Shanghai’s semiconductor market revenue touched 95 billion yuan (US$14.6 billion), a double-digit growth year on year and almost double the city’s GDP, Ma said.
The fair, which runs from next Tuesday to March 17 in the Pudong New Area, has attracted 3,630 exhibitors and covers an area of 200,700 square meters.
