Lenovo plans for 10% target
LENOVO Group expects to triple its share of the global sever computer market to 10 percent by 2015, ranking it as one of the top three server computer makers globally, the world's No. 2 personal computer maker said yesterday in Shanghai.
The expansion in the more advanced server computer market, which offers higher profit margin, indicates that Lenovo is ready to compete with technology giants such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Dell in the global information technology market, industry insiders said.
By 2015, Lenovo's server computer sales will surpass 1 million units annually to account for 10 percent of the global market, up from 3 percent now. To achieve that, Lenovo has to overtake Dell and Oracle.
Lenovo said its technological expertise in storage and cloud computing as well as its distribution channel will help the company achieve the target.
