Mobile apps the way to proceed
ENTERPRISES in China are expected to use more mobile applications to ride the growth in various mobile services and features as well the high speed of 3G networks because these represent the future, industry officials said during a forum.
"Mobile phones are penetrating into the enterprise market, and these devices and related services have become IT assets," Felix Liu, analyst at IDC China, said at a mobile Internet forum held by Research in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry.
In 2010, more than 1 billion people use mobile applications, and the figure will hit 1.3 billion in 2013. The Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan, will account for 62 percent of the total user base by then, versus 59 percent this year, according to International Data Corp, a United States-based IT consulting firm.
Mobile phones have become the new device to do business, thanks to the improved 3G network speed, which is 20 times faster than 2G, said Tian Suning, founder and chairman of China Broadband Capital.
Tian, who said mobile services represent the future, operates a fund of US$150 million in the Chinese market and planned to invest in 20 to 30 mobile application projects using BlackBerry or other platforms.
