More tablets sold
China’s tablet computer sales jumped 82 percent year on year in the fourth quarter of 2013 as the new models of iPad Air and iPad Mini debuted. Apple Inc expanded its share of the Chinese market to 61.5 percent at the end of the fourth quarter, followed by Samsung Electronics with 11.5 percent and Lenovo Group Ltd with 5.7 percent, Analysys International said yesterday. Apple’s new global debut strategy and fewer supplies in Hong Kong both fueled the sales of iPad in the domestic market in the quarter. Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive officer, expects China to become the company’s largest market although he didn’t say when.
