More transparent donation with Alibaba
Alibaba Foundation said it has launched a charitable collaboration with logistics firms to allow users to track the delivery status of their donations in a bid to make charitable causes more transparent and hassle-free.
Consumers are encouraged to donate their unused clothes or books and use online logistics tracking platform to ensure their donations finally go to the hands of the needed.
Currently the service is available for donors in six cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing and will be expanded into dozens of cities in the future.
One Foundation and several other charitable organizations will also join the scheme to help collected the donations and deliver them to the recipients.
Jin Jianhang, president of Alibaba Group, said it seeks to leverage its online capabilities to help develop China’s charitable causes and encourage more ordinary consumers to make donations and take part in charitable activities more easily.
One of its partners, Deppon Logistics, would waive the courier service fees for those who use Alibaba’s online logistics platform to deliver packages weighing less than 1 kilogram.
