Merck, the world’s largest supplier of liquid crystals for television, computer and smartphone displays, opened a new plant in Shanghai yesterday to cut reliance on imports. “With this double-digit million euro investment, Merck is underscoring its market leadership position, which is based not only on technology leadership, but above all on proximity to customers and constructive cooperation with them,” said Bernd Reckmann, a member of Merck’s executive board.
