No ruling on Qihoo appeal
The Supreme People’s Court yesterday didn’t arrive at a verdict on Qihoo 360 Technology Co’s appeal of a lower court judgment against it in a lawsuit filed by Tencent over illicit competition.
The legal war between the two Internet companies started in early 2012 when Qihoo launched a computer safety software to block users from installing other value-added services related to Tencent’s popular QQ online chatting tool.
Tencent demanded 125 million yuan (US$20.5 million) from Qihoo and the Guangdong Province Higher People’s Court ordered Qihoo to pay 5 million yuan in April this year.
Qihoo rejected the ruling and appealed to the SPC.
