Online search market increases 26.6%
CHINA'S online search engine market grew 26.6 percent in the second quarter after a 4.7 percent quarterly dip in the first three months, an industry report said.
The country's search engine market grew 62 percent year on year to 7 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion) in the three months ended June 30, according to a report released yesterday by Beijing-based Analysys International.
"The second quarter is usually a peak season for search engine marketing and advertisers have a very stable budget," said Analysys International researcher Dong Xu.
Baidu continues to take the lead position with a 78.6 percent market share at the end of the second quarter, followed by Google China's 15.7 percent, according to Analysys International. Baidu's share was up from 78.5 percent in the first quarter while Google China's was down from 16.6 percent.
