Oracle set to increase investment in China
ORACLE Corp, a major enterprise information technology service provider, will increase its investment in China for sales channel expansion and research & development, according to its President Mark Hurd.
Hurd, who met Mayor Han Zheng in Shanghai yesterday, revealed that Oracle was seeking local partners in the fields of financial service and cloud computing.
"China is a regional market with typical IT market growth, faster than that of GDP (eight percent annually)," Hurd said at a press conference yesterday.
United States-based Oracle now employs 4,500 people in China while it has had 25,000 enterprise clients, since its entry into China in the 1980s.
Oracle, which covers both hardware and software business after the acquisition of Sun, will hire more people for sales and research, Hurd revealed.
Oracle, whose major global rivals include IBM and Hewlett-Packard, now has business branches in 14 mainland cities, including Shanghai and Beijing.
