Overseas firms flock to fair to trade tech

MORE than 150 overseas companies will show off their latest technology for trading at the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair, organizers said yesterday.

The 155 companies, or 23 percent of total exhibitors, will display high-tech products and services in biotech, new materials, new energy, cloud computing, garbage disposal, water supply, robot making as well as various individual inventions.

Visitors will get the opportunity to ride the Tesla pure electric cars if they register online with a quick response code received at the site. The cars will debut on the Chinese mainland at the fair as “it is the best platform to demonstrate the value of new technology,” organizers said.

The fair will be held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center from April 24 to 26.

Over 20,000 professional visitors may attend the fair seen as China’s biggest platform for trading technology.

The trade of technology in China has jumped 25 times from 1978 to US$93.1 billion in 2013, the Shanghai Commission of Commerce said.

Shanghai’s trading in technology generated US$12.9 billion in value last year.
