Park gears up for more advanced tech

More advanced technologies such as cloud computing and the Internet of Things will be deployed in the Shanghai Pudong Software Park, the operator said yesterday.

The park will incorporate high-definition cameras, sensors and upgraded management as part of the Internet of Things technology. Companies in the park will be able to tap its high-speed broadband and wireless network to use more cloud computing services which allow people to edit, transfer or share data or files online through various devices, according to the park operator.

By the end of 2012, companies operating in the park located in Pudong New Area  generated a revenue of 45.9 billion yuan (US$7.4 billion). Their exports were worth US$630 million. The park is home to more than 539 firms, including Germany’s SAP and China’s Huawei, which employ a total of 35,000 employees.

In 2012, the revenue in the Chinese software industry was 2.5 trillion yuan, a 31.5 percent growth year on year. The companies in software parks nationwide contributed 60 percent of total revenue, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
