Playing games is big money
THE Chinese gaming industry saw impressive business growth in domestic markets in the first half of the year, an industry report showed yesterday.
Sales revenue reached 105 billion yuan (US$15.4 billion) in H1, up 5.2 percent year on year, according to a report released at the 16th China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Show in Shanghai.
Sales revenue for the mobile gaming industry topped 63 billion yuan, while spending on PC games hit nearly 31.6 billion yuan in H1.
China is one of the world’s largest games market, with 530 million gamers in H1 — an increase of 4 percent year on year.
