Professional 4G use valued at US$5b by 2018
THE use of next-generation 4G technologies in the professional sectors, such as security system in Shanghai Disneyland and management system for Tianjin port, will generate US$5 billion in revenue globally by 2018, industry officials told a conference yesterday in Shanghai.
The professional mobile radio broadband market will grow by 40 percent annually between 2014 and 2018 when global revenue is expected to be US$5 billion, Thomas Lynch, researcher at US-based IHS, told the eLTE (enterprise LTE) Solution Alliance Summit 2014.
The LTE broadband network will replace current low-speed network by 2017 to cope with the huge demand of video and picture applications in public security, transport, military and industrial sectors, said Wang Tao, president of Huawei’s wireless product line.
“It will change everything in public security, transportation, energy and finance industries,” said Wang at the conference.
Huawei secured 66 eLTE contracts by the third quarter of this year by working with partners including Siemens CVC.
