Qihoo slams 'inaccurate' traffic report

QIHOO 360 Technology yesterday denied allegations made by short seller Anonymous Analytics that its website traffic was exaggerated.

In a report released on Monday, Anonymous Analytics said: "Qihoo's directory page gets significantly less traffic than the management has led the capital markets to believe."

Citing a study done by data tracking firm ComScore Inc, Anonymous Analytics said that Qihoo's Internet directory page hao.360.cn has 70 percent less average daily visitors than Baidu's hao123.com directory website in April.

But Qihoo rebutted in an e-mail statement that the gap in the website traffic was due to different tracking methods.

"Qihoo strongly rejects all allegations in the report," Qihoo said. "The report is inaccurate and misleading."

Chief Financial Officer Alex Xu told Bloomberg News yesterday: "This (AA) report is basically a repetition of what other short sellers said before, which Qihoo has denied and clarified in the past."
