ERICSSON Inc opened a new wireless research center in Shanghai yesterday and promised to increase investment in research and development in the Chinese mainland while other IT giants like Motorola Mobility and Sony cut research jobs in China. The Shanghai opening followed Ericsson's new research center in Nanjing of Jiangsu Province, where the Sweden-based company has invested 450 million yuan (US$71.4 million) already.
