Sales may surpass 2015 target
CHINA Mobile’s sales of 110 million 4G phones by the end of May are likely to help the telco surpass its annual sales target of 200 million 4G phones in 2015, accounting for a quarter of its total user base, the world’s top mobile carrier said yesterday.
It will also expand into Internet Plus, automotive and online education business as it taps its 800 million users and an upgraded network.
Within next five years, China Mobile aims to put 4G services in 4 million cars by tying up with partners like GM China. China Mobile has offered Wi-Fi and Internet services in 370,000 schools covering 2 million teachers and students.
The telco’s Chairman Xi Guohua will today talk about new strategies for 4G network upgrading and 5G at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, which opens today.
