Samsung Note 3 sales begin tomorrow
Samsung will start selling its latest 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 smartphone in China tomorrow, about a week after rival Apple released the latest iPhone, the world’s No. 1 smartphone vendor said yesterday in Beijing.
“Big and high-quality screen is DNA of the Samsung Note model,” said Lee Don Joo, marketing and strategy head of the South Korean firm’s wireless product business. “It brings our users unique experiences and Samsung advantages in the industry.”
The Note 3’s huge screen contrasts with Apple’s latest iPhone 5S which sports a 4-inch screen. Samsung’s model has a 13 megapixel camera unlike iPhone 5S’ 8 megapixels. Samsung’s new Galaxy Gear smartwatch can sync with the Note 3. However, the unique feature of the iPhone 5S is a fingerprint sensor that can unlock the phone.
The Note 3 sells from 5,399 yuan (US$882), slightly higher than the 5,288 yuan for the iPhone 5S. At present, more than 40 million people use the existing two models of the Samsung Note smartphones, with more than 8 million in China, the South Korean firm said.
The iPhone 5S, which started sales globally including in China last Friday, was received warmly, especially for the gold model. It was sold out several hours after Apple started online bookings last week.
