Samsung Pay in new phones

SAMSUNG Electronics launched new flagship models in Shanghai yesterday that have built-in services including Samsung Pay and free Wi-Fi service via cooperation with Tencent’s WeChat.

Samsung’s 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge for the Chinese mainland market costs 5,688 yuan (US$873), and its 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 sells for 4,888 yuan.

Samsung Pay, a mobile payment service built in the new models, will be available in China later this month through cooperation with seven banks and POS machines nationwide. Samsung Pay supports about 95 percent of existing POS machines.

Samsung will cooperate with Tencent to allow Chinese Galaxy S7 and Edge users to access free Wi-Fi via WeChat in places where Wi-Fi coverage is spotty.
