Shanghai to host 1st festival on info usage
SHANGHAI will hold the first information consumption festival next month, which aims to promote companies offering new technology or new business model and also encourage entrepreneurship, the city’s industry regulator said yesterday.
Over 100,000 people may attend the Shanghai International Information Consumption Exhibition and Mobile World Congress Shanghai event — the first of its kind nationwide. The events feature 17 activities including two industry shows, a new local information consumption report and entrepreneurship competition.
Forums will also be held on online education, Internet finance, innovation, big data and Internet video at the events which will be held from July 15 to 17. Confirmed exhibitors include Tencent, Alibaba, Microsoft, Lufax and ChinaPnR.
Mobile Internet is expected to provide 5.9 percent of gross domestic product in 2020 in Asia, up from 4.7 percent in 2014, said GSMA, organizer of the Mobile World Congress, the world’s biggest telecommunications show held annually in Barcelona.
By the end of 2015, the use of information products and services is set to grow 20 percent annually to 3.2 trillion yuan (US$516 billion), said a State Council statement.
