Shanghai users to get Unicom 4G Plus
SHANGHAI mobile users will enjoy China Unicom’s 4G Plus services that boast improved 4G bandwidth and high-quality voice communications this year, the telco said yesterday.
Shanghai will become the first city in the country to offer the new VoLTE service that allows consumers to enjoy 4G network connections during voice calls of CD-like voice quality.
The bandwidth of the 4G network will double the current level to 300 megabytes per second, said China Unicom, the country’s second-largest mobile carrier.
“We want to offer users various services covering network speed, voice quality and online content,” said Cai Quangen, Shanghai Unicom’s general manager.
Bigger rival China Mobile has recently launched its 4G Plus plan which offers users 300Mbps bandwidth in the city’s downtown area.
