Sharing public data

SHANGHAI will share public service data, including urban transportation, with high-tech teams in the hope they will be able to come up with apps for the general public.

Shanghai will share more than 100 GB of its database with invited tech teams to develop qualified applications and services for Shanghai. The data covers 500 categories including transportation, education and other social management sectors, according to the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Information Technology. A 2 billion yuan (US$312.5 million) fund will also be established to support innovation and start-up firms.
