Sony set to sell PS4 in December
SONY plans to sell PlayStation 4 gaming consoles on China’s mainland as early as in December as it follows Microsoft, which is already selling its Xbox One in the domestic market after the ban on sales of gaming machines was lifted earlier this year.
Sony will start examination and packaging of the PS4 console at a facility with an annual capacity of 200,000 units in the Pudong New Area in December, according to a filing on the official website of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone yesterday.
Sony set up a joint venture with Shanghai-based Oriental Pearl Culture Development Co in May for its PlayStation gaming consoles.
Microsoft launched the Xbox One in the FTZ at the end of September with its partner BesTV New Media. It became the first gaming console legally available on the mainland since 2000.
