ADVANCED supercomputers will play important roles in major scientific and economic sectors in the future and in the process save “millions (and even billions) of dollars,” US-based research firm IDC said in a report yesterday.
“HPC (high performance computing) can accelerate innovation cycles greatly and in many cases can generate return on investment,” said Earl Joseph, IDC’s researcher.
China leads the global supercomputing market as a Chinese supercomputer topped a list of the world’s fastest computers for the seventh straight year. For the first time the computer used Chinese-designed processors instead of US chips.
