Taobao Mall ties up with 9 couriers

TAOBAO Mall has teamed up with nine major courier firms, which will see the business-to-consumer shopping site under the Alibaba Group channel up to 5 billion yuan (US$794 million) worth of business and nearly 1 million orders this year.

The nine courier companies, including China Post Group's Express Mail Service, Shentong and Shunfeng, will launch 5,000 inter-city courier routes to ensure that packages can be delivered within one day. They will also provide other value-added features, including cash-on-delivery, delivery appointment and a pick-up service. If delivery is delayed, the firms will compensate customers.

Under the tie-up, packages from Taobao Mall, which has nearly 40 percent of China's B2C market, have priority over other orders, and there will be no extra fee.
