Taobao warehouse set up in Chongqing

ALIBABA’S consumer retail unit Taobao said yesterday that it has teamed up with Chongqing Xiyong Bonded Area to set up a dedicated bonded warehouse for imported goods vendors who aim to tap the booming cross-border trade.
Taobao vendors can use a 100,000-square-meter bonded warehouse in Xiyong Bonded Area exclusively and the local customs bureau will accelerate clearance procedures and overall logistics process. The vendors will also be able to cut storage and logistics costs due to the bonded area’s favorable policies.
Chongqing Vice Mayor Weng Jieming expects the value of annual cross-border e-commerce transactions through Taobao vendors and Chongqing customs to hit 1 billion yuan (US$157 million).
There are now more than 10,000 vendors selling imported goods on Taobao.
