Tech era set to change automobiles
TECHNOLOGY giants and carmakers are banding together to display smart driving technologies and new lighter materials that represent “young and the future” at the Auto Shanghai 2017 show yesterday.
Such technologies cover lightweight materials, in-vehicle digital entertainment and artificial intelligence.
Chip giant Intel, Hi-Fi maker Dynaudio and search giant Baidu partnered with automakers to highlight their “young and future” cutting-edge technologies.
Intel said yesterday that it will cooperate with domestic automaker Changan on the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and data center, as well as self-driving technologies.
The chip giant has tied up with domestic software vendor Neusoft to tap the smart driving market to produce a system equipped with AI that can warn drivers when they are tired.
By 2030, more than 120 million cars with smart driving technologies will be on the road, propelling the car to become the fastest growing connected device in future, analysts said.
Hi-Fi maker Dynaudio said it will offer customized Hi-Fi devices for in-vehicle entertainment for Mercedes-Benz drivers in China. Dynaudio, which boasts clients like Bugatti Veyron and Volvo, aims to expand in-vehicle Hi-Fi services in China, whose market was worth 150 billion yuan (US$22 billion) in 2016, a 30 percent annual growth.
Carbon fiber is set to become an alternative new material used in vehicles in three to five years, industry officials said.
