Telco aims IPTV services at users
SHANGHAI Telecom wants the city's 3.7 million Internet users to buy its IPTV services, General Manager Zhang Weihua said on the sidelines of a meeting by the city's top political advisory body.
"Such value-added services will become a major profit producer for our company, and the trend forces us to continue to innovate," Zhang said.
The company teamed up with Shanghai Media Group to launch IPTV services in 2005. The Internet Protocol TV, which provides users customized programs, is a move toward the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting.
