Tencent fund to help data security
TENCENT, China's largest Internet company by market value, said it will set up a 1 billion yuan (US$159 million) mobile security fund to encourage smaller firms to offer anti-virus service for the country's booming smartphone users.
Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent, said yesterday at the China Internet Conference in Beijing that the company will work with partners to keep data security for mobile phone users. He said that Tencent encourages start-up firms and other Internet companies to join it to offer a safe mobile Internet environment, without elaborating how the money will be used.
