Tmall Global trade jumps nearly twice
TRANSACTIONS on Alibaba’s imported goods retail platform, Tmall Global, jumped nearly twice in 2015 amid rising demand for overseas goods, according to latest data.
By the end of 2015, Tmall Global offered a total of 5,400 overseas goods from 53 countries and regions, Alibaba said yesterday, adding that it’s the first time 80 percent of these goods were available in the Chinese market.
The fastest growing categories include infant food, baby care products, health and nutritional food and personal care products.
More cities in other inland provinces and regions such as Karamay and Urumqi in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Wuhan in Hubei Province also ranked in the list of top 10 cities in total spending for imported goods in 2015 alongside coastal cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
