Ufida eyes expansion in cloud computing

UFIDA Software, China's biggest software vendor, will expand its cloud computing services globally by acquisitions and joint ventures.

Ufida has invested more than 100 million yuan (US$15.6 million) to set up a special division and research teams on cloud computing, a new Internet-based service that has bright prospects, Li You, the firm's executive president, told Shanghai Daily in an exclusive interview yesterday on the sidelines of an IT forum.

Cloud computing, one of the hottest trends in the IT sector, refers to resources, information and data sharing services through Internet networks, and this helps companies to improve work efficiency and reduce labor cost.

"Cloud (computing) is a strategic opportunity for all software and Internet firms. It will change the industry structure completely," Li said.

As part of its strategy Ufida will acquire some Asian firms and establish joint ventures with Western companies to penetrate overseas markets.
