Unicom starts in Australia
GLOBAL telecommunications giant China Unicom officially started operations in Australia yesterday, contributing to the development of the Australia-China “information silk road” and deepening bilateral ties.
Telecommunications between China and Australia have been lackluster in the past with communications having to go via the US despite the high trade volume between the two nations.
Services trade between China and Australia in the 2013-14 financial year hit US$7.21 billion.
