CHINA UnionPay Co will enter eight new overseas markets by accepting Societe Generale (China) Ltd as a new member yesterday to expand its service in 112 countries and regions.
Societe Generale (China) Ltd yesterday signed a deal with UnionPay, China's sole bank card transaction switcher, to issue UnionPay standard yuan debit cards in the second quarter of this year.
The deal will allow debit card holders to use automated teller machines and points of sale in 14 global markets of Societe Generale initially, with 12 of them in Africa. Eight of them are new to UnionPay.
