Verdict confirmed
BEIJING No. 2 Intermediate People's Court yesterday reaffirmed the final verdict in the dispute between Qihoo 360 and Tencent Inc, ruling that Qihoo was involved in illicit competition in its row with Tencent.
The court ordered Qihoo to apologize on its official website and pay 400,000 yuan (US$62,500) for Tencent's losses.
Qihoo, which provides a free Internet security tool, said in September 2010 that Tencent was scanning users' documents via QQ, the instant chatting tool. Tencent later said Qihoo's software has damaged the security setup of QQ and threatened the account safety of QQ users.
