Video body post-Expo hopes

SIX Shanghai firms, which scored some big-value deals during the World Expo 2010, have established an interactive video alliance yesterday as they aim to penetrate the video and design market in the post-Expo era.

The Shanghai Interactive Video and Technology Innovation Alliance comprises Crystal Digital Technology Co (Shanghai) Ltd, Shanghai Multimedia Industry Association, East China Normal University and three other firms, and they cover the whole industry chain from design and marketing to on-site construction.

"It's a nice opportunity now for us to form an alliance to seek market opportunities together," said Ji Feichong, general manager of Shanghai Crystal, whose firm provided display products and services for pavilions including the China Pavilion at the Expo. The firm also provided services during the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Shanghai has identified video and design, part of the creative industry, as one of the strategic industries to develop in the 12th Five-Year Plan which runs till 2015.

The Expo has boosted Shanghai's multimedia industry output by 30 percent annually in the past two years, and the body sees high growth.
